OUR STORY
About The Roaming Beads Project
The Roaming Beads Project, created by artist Selven O'Keef Jarmon, is an organization that curates spaces for collective groups of people to participate in the making of social sculpture. We create inroads into peoples' shared humanity through beading and listening to classical music while making sculpture. Each sculpture piece is prefabricated to near completion then prepped and readied to be completed within curated beading sessions. Our beading sessions are devoid of any fear of beading mistakes. The objective is simply beading on sculpture with the understanding that these pieces will be perfected at the work studio.

History
The Roaming Beads Project is informed by previous social sculpture projects by Selven O'Keef Jarmon. The 360 Degrees Vanishing and LEISURE TOWER Projects both involved collective groups of diverse cultures beading together to create a specific social sculpture. The 360DVP, created for the exterior of The Art League Houston, involved 16 beaders from South Africa beading with communities throughout the Houston area. The unintended underlining thread within all of the sessions was the natural soundtrack that placed itself within sessions as if it was meant to be. As a result, The Roaming Beads Project was built around the idea of art making and the soundtrack(s) operating within it.
